Its time! It's our time and it's your time. Below are details of the events that took place during our 100 year celebrations on the 15th & 16th November 2008. Saturday 15th November Open house at the HQ in Coleridge Street, Derby. 11am-2pm There was many archives and memorabilia on display and pictures of activities we do today. We were overwhelmed by the amount of people that came along and visited the "old place" and met former Members, Leaders and lots of old friends, all sorts of stories were being discussed. Dinner dance at Derby University 6.30pm for 7.30pm We were planning on many people attending and thats exactly what we got. The evening started with a two course meal, Cabaret, master of ceremonies was the former head of the Derby Magic circle. He never seemed to stop and we never thought the raffle would end either, so many prizes to give out. The cost at £15 a head was well worth it. We promised an excellent night with opportunities to reminisce and I think thats exactly what we got. Sunday 16th November Church service and Lunch 12 noon A light lunch was available at HQ with a further chance for everybody to see the photographs and memorabilia displays. There was a parade to St Giles Church, Village Street at 1.30pm led by the 20th St Augustines band, followed by a service that started at 2pm and ended with cutting of the birthday cake by the Deputy mayor............. PHOTO'S OF ALL THE EVENTS WILL BE COMING SOON. Derwent Green - 100years at the 4th Derby(Derwent) We are still in the process of collating information and photographs from our extensive archives and those of the Scout Association at London for inclusion in the book. The book is to be published and on general sale some time in the beginning of the new year. Do you have any personal experiences of your time with the 4th? Photographs or stories to tell, that you would be prepared to share and would permit to be included in the publication? If you have, please either send them to us via the e-mail below or contact us to get the postal details. Subscribe In order to try and fund the up front costs of publishing we are looking for subscribers. This will reserve you a copy of the first run of the book, your name in the book and a commemorative badge designed by David Perkins.
Please let the group know by e-mail using the address below. We would like to invite ALL former Derwent members to celebrate with us.
